Domestic consensus layer · v0.9 lives

Settlement for indoor mammals.

Felis Catus is a trust-minimized coordination protocol for households that already have a cat. Finality is achieved when the validator sits down.

An interactive meditation on finality. No token. No mint. The cat already owns the house.

01 — Protocol

A chain that already finalized.

Most networks ask you to believe in a future state. This one asks you to believe the cat is on the sofa. That belief has held for twelve thousand years.

ConsensusProof of Loaf. Block producers rotate by who is currently occupying the warmest rectangle in the room.
Data availabilityThe windowsill. If the sun moves, the data moves. Reorgs are called “getting down.”
MEVMoving Empty Vessels. Food-bowl extraction is permissionless and occurs at 06:00 UTC±the household.
SlashingA spray bottle. Equivocation is rare; sitting on keyboards is not.
BridgingThere is no bridge. The cat is already on both sides of every door.

02 — Mechanics

How value accrues.

Value does not accrue. Hair does. Participants supply warmth, open doors, and pretend not to notice the vase.

BondOne lap, posted continuously. Unbonding period: the cat decides.
YieldPurring. Non-transferable. Not a security. Barely a sound.
GasPaid in treats. Failed transactions still consume the treat.

Roadmap

  1. Genesis loaf

Validator set of one. Still the canonical chain.

  2. Horizontal scaling

Additional sofas. No sharding; just more furniture.

  3. Nighttime liveness

3 a.m. zoomies as a periodic liveness check.

  4. Nothing else

Feature freeze. The protocol is the cat.

03 — Governance

“The house is a rollup. The cat is the sequencer. You are the data-availability committee, and you are late.”

On-chain comment, unsigned, 04:12

Proposals are submitted by staring. Votes are weighted by who blinked first. There is no token-weighted council because there is no token. Attempts to form a DAO were absorbed into a nap.

04 — Specification

Felis Catus Protocol, informal.

ClientAny mammal that pays rent. Light clients may be dogs; they are not consulted.
State rootWherever the last sunbeam was. Checkpoints are optional and usually ignored.
Finality gadgetClosed eyes. Two consecutive closed-eye slots constitute economic finality.
Upgrade pathNone. Hard forks are called “moving house” and are strongly discouraged by the validator.
LicenseThe cat’s. You have a non-exclusive, revocable license to live here.
